Land use/cover change (LUCC), being a frontier and hot subject in the study on global change, is one of the core issues related to sustainable development. Hexi Region is fragile ecologically and very sensitive to environmental evolution. So it differs from areas on the east in evolution of land and its mechanism. This paper briefly discussesprocesses of LUCC in the region, anlayzes dynamical mechanism of LUCC, and also explores impacts of LUCC on the natural environment and social economy the basin.
