As a major component of both the environment and the ecosystem, soil could be contaminated by a variety of pollutants. First of all, types of pollutants and patterns of pollution of soils are enumerated. Then, characteristics of major pollutants and their behaves in soils are expatiated. It is concluded that a better understanding of the aspects mentioned above would play a very important role in controlling and eliminating soil pollution.
