Forms and the vertical distribution of phosphorus in vegetable soil in the northern part of Henan Province were studied by the method of phosphorus fractionation recommended by Jiang and Gu.The results showed that in the soil layer of 0~20cm,the content of total P,inorganic P,organic P and Olsen P was 1385.6~2896.5,1097.1~2365.7,270.0~606.9 and 109.8~302.4mg/kg,respectively,and the content of Ca₂-P,Ca₈-P,Al-P,Fe-P,O-P and Ca₁₀-P accounted for 12.5%,37.2%,10.8%,5.8%,13.3% and 20.5%,respectively,of the total inorganic P.The percentage of Olsen-P to total P was very high,ranging 4%~15%,and 10.6% on average.Most of the soil P,in whatever form,was concentrated in the soil layer of 0~20cm and with the depth increasing in the soil profile,the contents of total P,organic P,inorganic P and Olsen P were all decreased.
