Abstract:The content and spatial distribution of soil arsenic (As), and the cause of formation and relation with human activities were studied based on the regional sampling in Zhengzhou urban soils. The results showed that As mean content in the topsoil was 7.67 mg/kg, ranging from 3.25 mg/kg to 10.00 mg/kg, lower than the pollution criterion of China, but commonly higher than the control soil. As content was high in old residential districts, cultural districts and shopping centers. As content distributed irregularly in soil profile, and no correlation with soil other physical and chemical properties, but mainly disturbed by human activities. In urban soils As mainly came from the industrial wastes and the daily living wastes scattered by the citizen.
