Based on GIS and the historical data and the current data of the cultivated-land which obtained in 1985 from the 2nd National Soil Survey and in 2005 from the project of ‘ Soil Test and Formula Fertilization’, the capacity of the cultivated-land in Guangde County was assessed quantitatively with CLRMIS (Cultivated Land Resource Management Information System at County Scale). The results showed that the areas of the 1st-, 2nd-, 3rd-, 4th- and 5th grade cultivated land were 5480, 33900, 28230, 5830 and 1560 hm2, respectively; which constitute of 7.3%, 45.2%, 37.6%, 7.8% and 2.1% of the total area of the cultivated land, respectively.
