Through recalling the experiences of pedological surevys, an essential part of the comprehensive scientific survey in Qinghai-Xizang Plateau, carried out by generations of soil scientists from the Institute of Soil Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences, this paper proclaimed the arduous processes for exploring the alpine soil resources and evaluated the numerous achievements and the important contributions for developing soil science. At last, some thoughts were presented from the practices of the surveys.
