Abstract:Peanut is an important oil and cash crop in China, and its continuous cropping obstacle seriously influences the quality and yield of peanut, and confines the sustainable development of peanut industry. Various factors, including the accumulation of autotoxins, increase of soil pathogens, unbalance of soil microbial community, and disorder of physico-chemical properties were proposed to be mechanisms of continuous cropping obstacle by previous studies. However, investigations mostly focused on single factor of causing continuous cropping obstacle, and lacked the direct evidence to some extent. The paper reviewed the influences, mechanism and controlling measures of peanut continuous cropping obstacle, and presented the research advances in the mechanism focused on the effect of peanut root exudates, remaining characteristics of allelochemicals and the development of soil biological community. The future challenges and possible approaches to alleviate replanted obstacle are also discussed.
