Through analysis of natural conditions and ground surface features of the maritime Antarctic region, it was first found that the soil catena in the region was characterized by discontinuity. Meanwhile, based on knowledge of their soil-forming factors and their spatial variation, strong spatial variability of attribute and high differentiation of type of the soils formed in this region was demonstrated. Finally, the spatial diversity and complexity of the soil landscapes in the maritime Antarctic region were discussed. And it was concluded that accelerated changes in environmental factors influencing genesis and development of soils would ultimately lead to reshaping of soil landscapes.
