Abstract:Using Zhejiang Province as the primary research area, we utilized the carbon emission coefficient method to quantify both direct and indirect carbon emissions arising from land use activities. Furthermore, we conducted an in-depth analysis of the spatial and temporal patterns, as well as the underlying factors influencing these land use-related carbon emissions, with the aim of providing valuable insights for the formulation of effective low-carbon land use policies in Zhejiang Province. The results show that: (1) Throughout the study, the primary trend in land use change in Zhejiang Province was the influx of construction land coupled with the outflow of both cultivated and forested areas. (2) The net carbon emissions from land use in Zhejiang Province are experiencing a rapid surge. There are notable differences in the carbon emissions associated with different types of land use. Notably, the carbon emissions originating from construction land constitute the primary source. (3) The net carbon emission of land use in northern Zhejiang is significantly higher than that in southern Zhejiang. There are obvious differences in net carbon emissions among different cities. There are certain aggregation characteristics locally, mainly manifested as the "high-high aggregation area" represented by Shaoxing and the "high-low aggregation area" represented by Wenzhou. (4) Five factors, specifically energy consumption intensity, energy consumption density, the scale of construction land, the level of economic development, and population size, contribute to the rise in net carbon emissions from land use in Zhejiang Province. Conversely, the factors of carbon emission intensity and land use economic efficiency act as inhibitors of net carbon emissions from land use in the province. Thus, it is advisable to devise policies aimed at reducing carbon emissions from land use, taking into account land use practices, energy consumption, economic growth, and population size, in order to further advance the low-carbon development of land use in Zhejiang Province..
