Abstract:Spatial variability of soil hydraulic properties is critical for regional soil moisture simulation. Condition simulation based on Markov chain is a geostatistical simulation method using multiple information sources, and has several advantages comparing to the traditional interpolation and variogram-based conditional simulation. At present, the method in the research of soil hydraulic properties spatial variability is in need of further research. The achievement in regional hydraulic parameters is of great importance for stochastic simulation of soil water and solute transport, impacts of soil hydraulic properties spatial variability on soil moisture movement and solute simulation, especially for the uncertainty of sample sites variation on the simulation results of soil moisture movement and solute transport. This paper gave a review of Markov-chain-based geostatistical simulation in soil science and related fields in order to solve the parameters generating problem in regional simulation and to provide scientific support for regional agricultural management, efficient water use, and agro- environment protection.
