Abstract:Soil plays an important role in highlighting the aroma style of tobacco leaves. Soil series is the lowest classification unit of soil taxonomy and is a kind of holographic ID Card of soil. This paper took Xianfeng, Lichuan, Xinsan and Fangxian as the typical tobacco-planting regions of West Hubei, selected 5 typical tobacco fields in each regions which could grow the tobacco leaves of the highest-quality and tried to establish preliminarily the relevant soil series. The results showed that the soils of 20 studied tobacco fields belonged to Anthrosols, Argosols and Cambosols in Orders, and could be further categorized into 4 Suborders, 11 Groups, 13 Subgroups, 18 Families and 19 Series; generally, the tobacco fields were suitable for tobacco planting due to the loam textures and moderate nutrient contents in the plough layers, but organic fertilizers should be applied and contour cropping should be adopted.
